Cardboard, particularly corrugated cardboard, was initially copyrighted in 1871 by Albert Jackson of Ny City. Johnson used it for wrapping bottles and window lantern chimneys. The corrugated container, packaging supplies as we know it right now, was designed by Robert Gair, who designed a machine to produce vast amounts of boxes. This development designated the beginning of size production and wide-spread use of cardboard boxes.
